A Study of CMI and SCL-90-R in Pripheral Vertiginous Disorder

Abstract
The relationship between the pathogenesis of perpheral vertigo and environmental stimuli is uncertain, but emotion or the changes of surroundings closely influence the attack and progress of vertiginous disorder. So vertiginous patients need
psychologic
consideration in their diagnosis and treatment.
Author examined and analysed Cornell Medical Index (CMI), Fukamachi Discriminative Chart and Symptom Checked List-90-Revision (SCL-90-R) to evaluate the degree and characteristics of the psychologic factors in peripheral vertiginous disorders. We
also
examined normal healthy adults and pharyngeal neurosis as control groups.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) According to the Fukamachi Discriminative Chart using CMI, the peripheral vertigo group had a higher incidence than normal healthy adults group in class III or IV region. Which is regarded as neurosis.
2) According to the SCL-90-R, the peripheral vertigo group had a higher score than normal healthy adults group in all 9 sections.
3) According to the SCL-90-R, the peripheral vertigo group had a high incidence of phobia and anxiety in order of the 9 sections. In the phayngeal neurosis group, somatization was highest and anxiety was second in all 9 sections.
4) We concluded that peripheral vertigo is closely related to psychologic factors and emotion, and these factors should be considered in diagnosis and treatment.
